Microsoft's frontline solutions for device management Decisions regarding device type (i.e., PC or mobile) are determined by task intensity and mobility.įrontline workers who are highly mobile like task-based floor workers and customer-facing floor workers are typically assigned shared mobile devices and PCs, while customer service professionals, floor worker managers, and sales professionals are more likely to use dedicated devices. Customer service professionals use shared and dedicated PCs, depending on the type of customer information they access. Floor managers and sales professionals demonstrate greater need for productivity apps and tend to utilize dedicated devices. Device use casesįloor workers (task-based and customer-facing) make up the bulk of the frontline workforce and primarily utilize shared devices. There are a variety of roles filled by frontline workers, from tasked-based floor workers who work onsite in locations like warehouses and are highly mobile to customer service professionals who are more stationary in their location. This definition can be further broken down into the five categories detailed below. Defining frontline workersįrontline workers can be defined as “customer-facing and task-oriented roles”. Then, we will share how this research aligns with Microsoft’s endpoint management solution for the frontline. This research focused on healthcare, manufacturing, and retail industries in the United States. This blog will explore findings from a survey and interviews of 324 IT decision makers (ITDMs) that manage frontline organizations. To tailor these digital tools to this diverse population, Microsoft conducted research to define frontline workers and identify endpoint management trends. As of June 15th, the updated page appears to have been widely rolled out to nearly all users.Frontline workers are essential to every industry and deserve technology solutions to support their work. In June, as the update began rolling out mode widely, friend-of-the-site Justin Duino shared screenshots showing the interface on a Galaxy Z Fold 2 with the “Pending Downloads” page filled. There’s also a toggle to show apps installed on the device and apps not installed on the device, the latter showing your history of app downloads. As we pointed out at the time, the “Manage” tap shows the typical library of installed apps that we’re used to seeing in the Play Store. We spotted this interface ourselves a few months ago, but the May Reddit post was the first evidence that Google is actually rolling this interface out to users. Finally, there’s a “Ratings and reviews” section. Clicking through to that section shows a “Pending downloads” list and a “Check for updates” button.eįurther down the page, there’s a storage section and “Send” and “Receive” buttons that integrate with Nearby Share. This new page shows Google Play Protect front and center followed by an “All apps up to date” section, which, presumably, shows a list of apps that have not been updated. Your results may vary.Ī Reddit user spotted this new Play Store design in early May, which alters the “My Apps” page we’ve known for years, replacing it with an “Overview” page. You may be able to trigger it on your device by force-stopping the app, clearing its cache, or restarting your device. Update 6/15: This update is rolling out widely as of this week after expanding the week prior. The Play Store is currently testing a redesigned “My Apps” section that adds an overview page with more information. After rolling out a redesign to the Play Store that ditched the hamburger menu, Google is testing out yet another major revamp.
